'Trademark Moo' - 11th April 1970 - The Gymnasium, State University of New York, Stony Brook, Long Island, NY, USA

Sound Quality: B
Performance: B-
Overall: 1

There are some huge issues here which really kill this boot. The first being the second half of 'A Saucerful Of Secrets' is missing and the second being the idiot near the recorder who seems to be trying to flirt with an a fellow audience member and not just thru the song breaks either but during the slow introductions of some songs and even during the quieter parts of tracks, the sound effects in Cymbaline is a perfect example.

The recording was spectacular, the vocals were really clear and the sound effects, the volume was good and constant throughout and the performance was pretty good. Great versions of 'Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun' and 'Atom Heart Mother' were the  highlights for me.

Track breakdown...

Astronomy Domine: It takes 30 seconds or so to get the track started, something about an echo unit and there is some loud chatter from close by, but stops once we get underway so not a big deal. There is a longer than usual introductory section and the vocals are very clear.

Careful With That Axe, Eugene: Sams folks are chatting during the slow build up to this
track. Very annoying and rude. The screams are great but there is a little bit of
intensity lacking in my humble opinion.

Cymbaline: More chatter as the song starts. Vocals are nice and clear again. We have some heavy breathing and some meandering keyboards from Rick, very weird. A more chatter over the sound effects part.

Atom Heart Mother: This was before it was released and before Ron Gessin got his mits on it. So no brass, no orchestration, love it. You can tell they are still getting to grips with it, they are a little hesitant as you would expect. Still a pretty good version.

Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun: More chatter between tracks and into the song. I can't quite make out what they are saying but it sounds like a guy is trying to get laid. 60's were over 4 months ago!

A Saucerful Of Secrets: More chatter during the song break and also some during the song, enough already. The song is cut off, what appears to be, towards the end of the first half. Which is a shame because it was going pretty well before that.

Leave this one alone, even though the recording is very good the chatting and half missing encore song are not balanced out by the performance.
