'Colmar 74' - 22nd June 1974 - Parc Des Expositions, Colmar, France

Sound Quality: B+
Performance: A-
Overall: 4

Nicely recorded (not like 'The Lost Second Set' bootleg from the same date review I will be posting very soon.) first set from the Colmar gig on the 1974 French Summer Tour. There is just three songs in this one so a lot to be said in the track breakdown, so lets just get on with it.

Track breakdown...

Shine On You Crazy Diamond (full): This is still a work in progress which is really nice, the second half is longer than the first in this version and there is a nice long chunk of seeming improvised work in that second section. There are some volume variations throughout the track most noticeably during the vocals in the second half. There is a little chatter during some quiet sections but again it isn't bad. At the very end during the slow fade out it sounds like the microphone is being brushed.

Raving And Drooling: Good rendition of this version of 'Sheep' in progress, the two songs, this and the song it would become on the 'Animals' album are quite different, I have to say I have a soft spot for the version played on these 1974 tours, its more of a funky jam.

Echoes: Really good version of this track despite a seemingly endless batch of whale song!

Pick this one up but bear in mind the entire second set is missing, this is the first set only.
