'The Lost Second Set' - 22nd June 1974 - Parc Des Expositions, Colmar, France

Sound Quality: C+
Performance: B
Overall: 2

The recording is very harsh and raw, it is something I have never heard in the other bootlegs I have reviewed. Sometimes a 'rawness' quality can be good for an ROIO but not in this case, the start of the guitar solo in 'Money' is a prime example, really harsh sounding as well as 'Time' and 'Great Gig In The Sky'.  Now I do not know if this was, in part at least, the sound at the gig or just the recording. The voices and sound effects thoughout the whole set were clear and really good.

The performance was all right but not stellar, 'Any Colour You Like' was the highlight for me, starst off with a keyboard solo for the first couple of minutes before switching to guitar and clocks in at just over 8 minutes with some wondefrul guitar work from Dave.

Track breakdown...

On The Run: sounds pretty odd without the Vc3 synth part for the begining, then it kicks in at pretty low volume, this might be due to the Azimuth and the sound because the sound was moving around the arena.

Great Gig In The Sky: Towards the end it sounds they breaking glass, it is separate from the start of Money, not sure what the heck was going on.

Money: Drop out during the sax solo. Guitar solo more funky than usual. Sounds like the mic was covered or moved for a few seconds during the solo as well a couple of times. The sound has a pulse going to it, like the microphone is moving back and forth.

Any Colour You Like: There is a drop out just before the 3 minute mark.

Brain Damage: Vocals are barely audible, I believe this is Rogers first vocals so it could be a microphone volume issue.

This is pretty forgettable.
