'A Momentary Lapse in Lahti' - 10th June 1989 - Lahti, FInland

Sound Quality: B
Performance: B-
Overall: 3/5 Storage

This is very much a missable bootleg, not bad but not good, go watch/listen to 'Delicate Sound Of Thunder'. The sound quality was ok, the volume varies throughout which is annoying but ok, the worst part is the tape flip during 'Sorrow' which is unforgivable!

The performance was ok, again nothing to write home about but not bad, there are a couple of times they have issues with the equipment and each time Dave does some strumming on the guitar but it nothing special, never breaks into a tune or give us some classic 'Smoke On The Water' riff or anything like that. The mention in the info on the 'Johnny B. Goode' riff is sketchy at best, maybe a few bars but not that you would really recognize it. They occur at the start of both 'Us & Them' and 'Money'.

Highlights…

Sorrow: Solo is a little longer, the tape flip is annoying.

On The Turning Away: Really suffers from the volume up and down problem, good version though, real shame.

Welcome To The Machine: Not on the DSOT album so a nice break, ,good version with some extra backing vocals. I had never heard this post-Waters version before.

Money: Nice long version, really nice middle section with some good band jamming' stuff.

Comfortably Numb: This was a pretty good version, a little rough but then that is ok by me.

Better boots out there for sure, will find one soon from this time period.

Comments: This show is worth having for the following reasons:

1. It was Floyd's first (and I believe only) stop in Finland, which Gilmour notes at one point.
2. This is the complete show, with the exception of tape flips.
3. This strays a bit from the strict, keep-the-music-synched-to-video,  never improvise nature of the "Momentary Lapse Of Reason" and "The Division Bell" shows due to the "technical difficulties" that cause a restart of 'Us And Them' and a good deal of time between tracks. As a result, we are treated to a really nice, lengthy solo at the start of the track by Rick, and some interesting noodling by David, to include a 'Johnny B. Goode' riff.

One good marker to determine the source of this tape vice other possible recorders is the gasping, choking sounds of someone near the taper just before the lead-in to 'One Of These Days'.
