'Soundboard on the Wall' - 9th August 1980

Sound Quality: B (great except tape weirdness)
Performance: C
Overall: 3/5 Storage

This is another soundboard recording that is basically spoilt by a tape issue towards the end of the first disk and into the start of the second disk and it wasn't a great performance, pretty ordinary all round.

There is also a low tape hiss for some reason but it is not that bad and you can tune it out pretty easily. This is my second Wall show bootleg, I have plenty more to go thru both have 3/5 so far and I would still favor the one put out officially at this point.

Here is the breakdown of anything notable…

  • In The Flesh?: The very start is cut off so it is jarring, not a good start
  • The Thin Ice: has some performance issues but not bad on the whole.
  • Another Brick p1: Nice long version, sounds like some minor tape issues though
  • Another Brick p2: Some static, also gets muffled at one point but this is a good version, nice guitar and keyboard solos and the bass is great, really clear. A real nice jam by the guys
  • Mother: Dave's vocal fade out but I think that was at the show rather than a recording issue, this is a nice longer version with an extended solo.
  • Young Lust: A little ragged but that suits the track well. Rick's keyboard is nicely evident and the whole song has a good bluesy feel to it. Great version of the track.
  • Another brick p3: Liked this version
  • Goodbye Cruel World: Tape issues start like the tape gets warped or stretched.
  • Hey You: Tape problems continue and Dave messes up at the start of the second verse, but not too noticeable.
  • Comfortably Numb: Some unwanted feedback, not good for this song and overall an ok version.
  • Run Like Hell: When the song is done Roger says 'We always like to do something for the disco fans.' That crazy English sense of humor. ;-)

Some people say that this a good audience recording and remasterd. Can you tell. Listen, do you think this is an audience recording?
This recording was diginally remastered with good eqiptment. Like they ever needed to remaster it in the first place.
